Home buyers can connect wirelessly to view information.
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Prospective buyers driving by a home for sale may soon be able to use their laptops or PDAs to connect wirelessly with a Web site to get more information under a new system being developed by a Nashua real estate consultant. John Doran calls his program eLapTopTour because it lets buyers instantly call up information about the property through a Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi is shorthand for 'wireless fidelity,' a series of technical protocols that transmit digital information by radio signals for short distances. Any properly equipped computer and some cell phones can use a wireless network to access the Internet without being plugged in. Doran and his partner, Eric Snider, are testing the program at a professional building in Salem as well as in a few homes in Arizona and Massachusetts.
